Im just about to do my gcse's and was just wondering, If I were say to get the following gcse's:
Eng lit A
Eng lang A*
What would my chances be of getting into top unis like Bristol, Durham, Leeds, York, Edinburgh, Oxbridge etc. Assuming I got 3A's at A level if not A*AA and looking to study economics?
Thank you in advance

few if any unis and courses place a huge amount of significance on GCSE reults - especially if you have results like you state ...
it's a couple of Med schools that had a thing for lots of As and A* at GCSE ...

You're fine. Those are a good set of GCSE's! And you have A's/A*'s in all the core subjects, which is mostly what unis want. The entry requirements usually say something like '5 A-C passes with at least a B in English and Maths' etc.
My friend got all B's at GCSE is at York, so there you go
A-levels are more important.
Dunno about Oxbridge, but for Bristol, York, Leeds ect you will be fine. GCSE's are more important for the most competitive courses like medicine/vet med where they will use them to narrow things down when there are plenty of exceptional candidates
