# arcsinh(tan(x))...? watch

1. just (as we all have to do from time to time) going back and revising a few basics to keep the brain sharp...

one of my basic books on calculus (Im doing single, multi, as well as the basic type of "teach yourself" ones - just to "brush up) -

anyway, one of the basic ones sais that:

but my brain is telling me you can put the final (really awful) derivative into the form:

because it is:

my question (sort of) is: the signum one is the proper one, right?...

(want to be 100% sure) thanks!!!

(sort of a silly Q I know, but, somewhat annoying me now)

Thanks Ugloo! I thought it was that! (since the signum part will be -1 for negative sec, and +1 for positive sec!)
