English lit student - soon!
Personally I love Pete,
There he was pruning the roses,
In his glass sanctuary.
He wouldn't move a muscle when the celebratory seasons called,
Christmas meant coldness,
So tending to the perennials meant more
Twenty degrees in his hideaway,
Had to be pleasanter than blizzards and ice - awaiting outside.
So when you see his perfumed poises
Planted in no order,
Dominating his shelfs with their satins and pinks:
Oranges and yellows.
A rainbow has crashed into this greenhouse
Paradise for Pete, is nowhere else.

Yes, what's the message?

I do. Are the syntax intentionally a bit muddled and thoughts left unfinished? If so, I like the effect it creates of giving us an insight into Pete, who seems to have an unhealthy obsession with his greenhouse.

I love this! The stream of consciousness style of writing is just so authentic and real that it's hard to remember this is an abstract concept - I lose myself in the story itself. The symbolism is awesome - the balance of what is implied and explained is just right! You should be proud.
