So I was looking at different self-catered accommodation options for the University of Edinburgh and getting together a list of potential choices, but I am 6ft4, so I am concerned that the bed sizes may be too small. Does anyone know if there is 'special' accommodation for tall people? Thanks.

If there is then it's news to me, though I'm someone who has trouble reaching the top shelf in the supermarket.

Beds tend to be a fairly standard size. Do you have a special bed at home? If not I don't see why you would need one at uni.

Well I sleep in a sofa-bed at home, which is equivalent to about a queen-double, so I have room to fold
It was while visiting Edinburgh that a student said her friend got moved to different accommodation because of his size (6ft6). I've slept in standard single beds before and my feet do hang off the end of the bed.

If it's going to be an issue for you then I would suggest emailing them, but how much they can / will do is anybody's guess, unfortunately.

does it really matter? im not as tall as you (6 foot something), but i would imagine that just means your feet will be hanging off the bed. isnt the more important thing that you get bed covers than can cover you (and hence your feet)?

regardless, i would contact the university about this issue. im sure they have some sort of accommodation email for concerns like this

I feel your pain...I just try and find a larger duvet so my feet don't get cold

Ask them. 6'4" is not really what I'd consider unusually tall though :dontknow:

One 6'6" guy in my halls was given a longer bed because he was tall. Another guy who was 6'4" had to make do with the standard bed, but he was late moving into halls, so maybe by then they couldn't help him. It can't hurt to ask
