    hi,
well, basically, I'm in year 10 and we've been studying and doing all the coursework for AQA English language so far, but just a couple of weeks ago, we were told that we doing a different GCSE In the middle of May- the IGCSE. I was really annoyed because we had done all the coursework and stuff, and I got pretty good marks because I worked really hard for them. But anyway, I've not really heard of IGCSE, and even though my teachers are telling me it has the same status as AQA English language, i'm not quite sure. If you guys know anything about it, please reply. Also, I brought lots of AQA revision books, but does anyone know a good book or website for English IGCSE that I can revise from, because I've got less than a month now.
    thanks.

It is basically the same lol some of the aqa coursework you should be allowed to use for igcse as well - and don't worry you won't be losing the aqa marks, the igcse is just another qualification on top of the aqa english

Hey I'm taking the IGCSE in May, as well, though I don't know much about the AQA GCSE syllabus... Have you been told what the papers are like? I presume you're taking English as a First Language. I'd be willing to answer any specific questions you have, because I don't really know what you know and don't

I'm just doing lots of past papers Mark them yourself, and you'll realise the mark scheme looks for specific stuff that just repeat each year but with different context. I think exams for English in general test the same things: fluent, cohesive writing with flair and extensive vocabulary. If you were doing good in your previous exams, you'll do fine in this one

IGCSes are at least as well respected as GCSEs by universities, but less well known. Lots of private schools do IGCSEs but, until recently, state schools weren't allowed to do them. Often they have no coursework and they never have controlled assessment. Do you know which IGCSE spec you are doing - Edexcel or CIE? Find out and have a look on their website to find out more about it.

After some searching on UCAS, I found out that GCSE=IGCSE. It's just that there are some differences. The syllabus is very similar, I used a GCSE Biology book to replace the IGCSE one I lost :P
