Primary PGCE Interview April 26th
Hi everybody! I have an interview for the primary PGCE with English as a specialism on April 26th and was wondering if anybody else has an interview this late? Also could anybody give me any ideas on what you have to do in the group task. I have heard that it is working in small groups planning a lesson, but that is very vague! How long is it supposed to last and what sort of question would you get asked?

I have my interview the same day, for the same course! Feeling really nervous about it.
I've spoken to someone who had the interview last month, she said the group task was splitting into two sets of pairs to plan a lesson and then discussing it with the other pair.
What have you been using to revise for the tests?

have you heard anything from Edge hill?i am starting to worry, because it has been 4 weeks and i havent heard a thing!

No still haven't heard anything! I emailed admissions on Wednesday and they said the tutor hadnt let them know and they were chasing the results, so we should hear in the coming week. But on Thursday one of the girls I was with on the day let me know she had heard from them! I've still had nothing. I think they said 20 working days at the most, with the two bank holidays that should be this Tuesday, so I'm hoping it'll be then!

I had my interview on the 19th of April and haven't heard anything. Two girls I know have been turned down and they heard weeks ago now. I'm really getting nervous! People just keep telling me no news is good news!

! i dont know what the hold up is, at this point getting a rejection would be devastating because then I would think, well why couldn't you have told me weeks ago. i emailed admissions, and they said they have received the paperwork and that I will be notified within 48 hours... eek!
have you contacted the university yourself?if I were you I would, they said 20 working days, and for you that has gone way past that.

Yeah today was the second time I mailed them. They told me something similar to what they told you. The first time I was told I would hopefully hear within three days but that's two weeks ago that I would have heard. That's why I maile them today! Can't take it much longer.. It wouldn't be so bad if everyone stopped asking!!

I've emailed them a second time myself to say I've started to get worried and people from my interview, who had te same interviewer and group interview as me have been told. They said it should be in the next couple of days.
I'm worried about the skills tests now though I didnt want to take them without an offer, but the deadline to have passed those is in four weeks!
Fingers crossed we hear today or tomorrow, it's dragging far too much now!

I got an update on my gttr tracking, and unfortunately it was an unsuccessful
I'm really peeved off that they couldn't told me this weeks ago, because it gives people false hope!Stephanie, were the people who found out last week successful?4

actually on checking my status again, I see that I have a reserve place. although its obviously better than having a no, it still means yet more waiting!

a reserve is better than unsuccessful, well done!! People usually get their degree results next month so a few more weeks to wait really! Have you done your skills tests yet?

I am in the exact same boat. I haven't even booked the skills test as I was waiting to see if I would be offered a place. It seems I will have to go ahead and book them now though, even if I haven't heard, as the deadline is fast approaching. I am really hoping we hear soon! There is so much to put in place! Where are you from?
Emma, please don't be disappointed! That's fantastic! Well done! They told us on the day of interview that they usually keep a very strong reserve list as every year people are accepted who back out for one reason or another. Keep up the positive thinking! Just out of interest what time did you get the email about the change? I kept reading people saying that theirs updated around 2am.. And it means I can't sleep worrying! Lol!

woke up this morning to an email from 3 this morning, just checked I've got a conditional offer, subject to passing the skills tests! Ill have to be practising now and get booking them, I'm petrified!
I'm from Liverpool so it's not too far for me to go, what about you?

Hiya! I got a conditional offer too! I'm so excited but yes it looks like I will have to get on the ball with the skills tests straight away! We are so so lucky I can't believe it! I'm from Northern Ireland that's why I was panicking because I have so much to organise! ill look out for you on the pre course day! you can inbox me before it if you like!

Ah yeah you'll have to sort accommodation out and everything, have to look into student loans as well, didnt think I'd have to do that again haha!

Girls you will be fine, just practice, practice those online sample tests! You are given a pen and board to make notes, do calculations on, so you'll be fine. I only found out this morning too, I already did my skills tests. See you in September. Worked out well for me, as I have just taken voluntary redundancy too. I'm off for a couple of months in Kenya beforehand.
Are they really similar to the online ones? Ill just make sure to do them everyday!

Yes, very similar. I actually thought the actual online tests were slightly easier. You'll be fine. Good luck!

Does anyone know the date of the pre course day? On the letter with the offer, it says do not come to the day on 1st July. Was just wondering if anyone has heard anything since? (Trying to book days away, worried I'll have to cancel!)

Im keen to know when it is too! I am in Spain at the minute- it was kind of last minute but I managed to pass the skills tests the week before I left. I only hope they give us a bit of notice so I won't have to fly there directly! I'm sure they must give a bit of notice though, because either way I will be flying to Liverpool. Go ahead and get your wee break! If you're anything like me I'm sure it'll be well deserved!
