    Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a portable 1TB external HDD, and was wondering if you guys had some suggestions? Currently I've seen the Samsung M3 and the WD Mypassport? Which is better out of the two do you think?

    Thanks

WDs are generally better than seagates...that i know for sure.

dont know if samsung is any good...

personally i would say, if u can afford ssd is better cuz u dont have to replace it after 2-4yrs.

I'd probably get the samsung. Only because I think it looks a bit better and I can't find any other meaningful difference. Samsung don't make their own drives any more they're made by seagate now and they make decent hard drives.

Might be worth mentioning I've got a wd my passport now and not all of the preinstalled software is removable. There's a virtual cd with some of their software embedded in the firmware that can't be removed. It doesn't do anything but it annoys me being there. There is some software included with the samsung drive but I don't know whether it will be removable.

Depends what you're using it for. If speed and small size is important, then go with the Samsung. If you want to save some money, and speed isn't very important, then go with the WD.

Hitachi branded is the one i recommend for price and reliabilty.

Or Western Digital branded ones are good to go for as well.
