    so i was going to do a sunset with watercolour but i was doing some practising and turns out i really can't paint a sunset!! I'm doing the effect of light - any ideas? I was thinking either reflections in water... or light through trees?
    Or has anyone got any tips to paint a sunset?
    (for gcse)

    Why not use oil pastels? Or Chalk- though I find it a bit mundane, it seems like it'll allow you to accomplish the style you want.

    It really depends on your project and how your ideas, research and experimentation has developed into your final piece- the reflections on water idea sounds good so maybe look at leonid afremov's work for inspiration and use acrylics instead of watercolour for a richer, more vibrant colour good luck
