    Can someone explain to me why an increase in glucose concentration would lead to a higher percentage transmittance of light?

    Good suggestion- but if everyone were to ''just google it'' then why would the student room exist?

    I was just making a suggestion to save you some time because sometimes people don't apply threads as fast as you want them to or none at all , just like now since ime the only one who has replied so far and its been over half an hour. I am just a passerby giving suggestions and trying to help, that's all.

    The glucose solution is boiled with excess benedicts solution before you use the colorimeter. It produces a precipitate of copper oxide - the more glucose the more precipitate. If there is a lot of glucose the amount of unreacted benedicts solution left in the test tube will be small. The test tube contents are filtered and the benedicts solution passes through the filter paper. If there isn't much benedicts present it will be a very pale blue. This is then put in the colorimeter and because it is pale there is a high percentage transmission

    So basically- the glucose solution reacts with boiled excess benedicts solution- and the more glucose solution- the more precipitate of copper oxide formed, and the less benedicts solution left unreacted.
    The copper oxide gets filtered right? And the glucose solution is the limiting reactant.
    So the colorimeter actually tests how high the concentration of benedicts solution is?
