    Need to explain why [Te(tmtu)4]Cl2 has square planar geometry but don't know how to actually explain it. Each thiourea ligand is 2e donors...

    I think for [Te(tmtu)2Cl4] is Octahedral, but again don't know how to explain it. Only really need an example so that I could even work it out myself, searched it online but don't have a clue what to do as it only shows pictures and lone pairs.

    Think about what d electron configurations favour square planar geometry..... You will need to have covered ligand field / crystal field theory.
