Hi guys! I'm a first year language student at Cambridge, and I'm planning to spend a bit of time in France during the summer to improve the old French. I was wondering if any of you guys had any experience with the Paris Langues language school?

I studied there a couple of years ago on my gap year. It was a great experience: the teacher was really cool and would have a laugh with us and teach us slang, groups were fairly small (around 7 students on average iirc), trips and activities were organised on Wednesdays and everyone was really friendly.

However, I'm not sure the level would be suitable for you. I was C1 level according to their entry test, but due to lack of students was put in the highest level class which was only B1/B2 level. So I spent a lot of time learning the subjunctive and other things I'd already covered at school.

Paris Langues is a lot of fun and great for picking up basic/intermediate French, but IMO as a uni student you'd be better off with the Alliance Française or La Sorbonne where the course is more challenging.

Agreed. The Cours de langue et civilisation française at the Sorbonne is great. http://www.ccfs-sorbonne.fr/-Cours-d...-.html?lang=fr

Might be a long shot, but I'm looking for some advice on the specialist Cours universitaire d'été at the Sorbonne. I'm planning to spend a month in Paris after my main year abroad project and I like the look of the Sorbonne courses. However, the highest level for the Cours de langue et de Civilisation is targeting C1 and is quite light in weekly hours, whereas I've already scored C2 on a short diagnostic test (I had to guess a few of the answers though and I don't think the test was long enough to be entirely accurate) and that's why the cours universitaire d'été looks perfect for me because it's pitched higher than the normal Cours de langue et de Civilisation and includes modules like explication de texte en français.

However apart from the website I can find no information about this course. Preregistration is not even available for it at this time, whereas it is for all the normal courses. So I'd just like to ask whether anyone has done, or knows someone who has done this course?

Due to timing I might just take the highest cours de langue et de Civilisation or something with the Alliance française but that wouldn't be ideal.
