    I'll try my best

    Stress= force/cross sectional area

    Tensile stress is when you apply a force on a material and the material is under tension and is pulled apart.

    Compressive stress is when you apply a force on a material and the material is under compression.

    Strain= change in length/original length

    Tensile strain is an increase in length when the material is under tension and is pulled apart.

    Compressive strain is a decrease in length when the material is under compression.

    Compressive strain refers to change in volume over original volume, not the length.
    Tensile stress is mostly associated with length. Volumetric or compressive stress is related to volume.
