    Im doing a questionnaire but when i put it through spss it seems to be analysing on a question by question basis and not the questionnaire as a whole. what could i have done wrong

    Lets say you have a personality questionaire with 44 questions. On SPSS, you will have at least 44 columns for each question. If you want to analyse a subset of questions, you have to use the "compute" function. Lets say you want to correlate extraversion with something else you have measured (lets say number of friends), then you would use the "compute" function to find the mean of the questions related to extraversion, which will create a new variable, and you can correlate this variable with something else. You cannot just put every question through SPSS and expect SPSS to know what you want to analyse...
