    Hi,

    Can someone please explain in a simple way the different hormones in the menstrual cycle and how they work and when in the cycle they kick in. I find it confusing .

    It helped me to recall them in this order:
    FSH- stimulates follicles in ovary to produce Oestrogen

    Oestrogen - rebuilds uterus linings, stimulates pituitary gland to produce Leuteinising Hormone(LH)

    LH- stimulates progesterone production

    Progesterone- maintains lining, inhibits FSH production

    Less FSH means less oestrogen (also follicles develop into corpus luteum(egg) Less FSH means egg stops developing, disintegrates and stops producing oestrogen) Less oestrogen...

    so lining breaks down

    Sorry if this is too concise, I typed it all on my phone!! Haha

    Thanks. oh and just to confirm the corpus luteum it what's left after the eggs is released from its 'vesicle' AKA the follicle

    Good luck with revision... Only 4 weeks untill our exam!
