How do you all revise for the AS exam coming up for English Language & Literature (Specification B)? I look through my Food anthology a lot but I have no idea how to revise from it efficiently for the exam

Poetry: Well, to revise poetry, just look at random poems from the internet and then analyse them. By analysing, I mean to specifically look at form, structure and language. How they are used, how they shape meaning, and how they relate to the subject.
Prose: To revise prose, make sure that you've re-read your novel(s). After doing so, go through each of the chapters and summarise them in bullet points, so you know what is happening in each chapter, and that you can remember (for the exam) roughly where things are. You will not be allowed to use the books that you have already written on, that will disqualify you (I'm sure you know of this though.)
Now, what should you be summarising?
1) The theme that is found in the chapter
2) The characters that are found
3) The setting
4) The narrative (narrative voice, time, etcetera)
5) The progression of ideas (structure)
Though, that list may be quite short, you should summarise these points as efficiently as you can, and in a way that you will remember them.
PS: I'm doing my AS English Literature (Edexcel) in May, and thus, I can only help you with the literature.Last edited by Omanand; 15-04-2013 at 10:31.
