Hello all! I'm very sorry if this is in the wrong place, first time poster in this particular forum!
I'm currently in my 3rd year of my undergraduate degree in Linguistics. I'm really enjoying it, but I would really like to work in computing in the future (with, perhaps, some very obvious retraining required along the way).
Both the Computing Science and Linguistic departments at my University seem to be in the dark about prospective jobs for a linguistic student in the computing field. I asked about Natural Language Processing and Computational Linguistics, but each department told me to go ask the other!
I just really wanted to ask, is there any other kind of work involving linguistics and computing? What would be a good way to increase my employability in the field? Should I know any specific languages, or work with a particular program?
Once again, sorry if this is in the wrong place. I've been passed from parcel to post about this for the past while, and any answer would be fantastic.
Thanks for reading!
