I don't suppose the question starts "if a = 1 then ... " does it?

It says the positive constant a is such that 2a(integral)a (2x^3-5x^2+4/x^2)dx =0
then the "show that" part of the question ._.

I presume the 2a and a are the limits of your integral? So integrate the expression you have, substitute the limits and rearrange. Hopefully you'll get the equation they want!
