I am in year 12 and we have recently received our marks for chemistry controlled assessment. Our year group has a range of marks from 39/40 to 10 and I am really panicking because I got 28 . I think the breakdown is this:

    30% Unit 1,
30% Coursework (out of 40 raw marks),
    40% Unit 2.

In order to get an A on either unit 1 or 2 the minimum raw percentage (I worked out from 2012 results) is around 80%.

My question is, how low is it possible to score in coursework before it becomes impossible to score an A???????

(I am doing both exams in summer).

    THANK YOU!! In Advance

Coursework is worth 20% of your AS grade. I got 30/40 on it at AS, missed out on an A by 3 UMS.
However thanks to exam results in my A2 year, I just need 60/90 UMS on my next exam for an A overall.
    ^That is without any resits.

So yes it is possible to get with wrecked up coursework.
