I went to the dentist today, and they told me I needed a root canal treatment, but before she could do this she'd need to prescribe me some amoxicillin which she did on the script it said '5TD x 5' which I think means that you should take 5 daily for 5 days, but the pharmacist gave me just 15 pills?
So what does 5TD x 5 actually mean?
What does '5TD x 5' mean on a prescription? watch

The pharmacist should have explained it to you really, but the normal dose for amoxicillin, if they're 500mg tablets, would be one tablet 3 times a day. Are you sure it didn't say "TDS" (which is medical shorthand for three times a day) rather than "5TD?"Last edited by Helenia; 16-04-2013 at 00:26.
