So I'm a second year doing my first degree and I have pet rats and frogs. As I'm in a private house at the moment, that's fine but I was wondering if anyone had managed to get away with having pets (caged obviously - nothing large like a dog or cat that would require anyone else even being in the same room as them if they didn't want) in student halls as I am hopefully going to do a second degree after this one?

I would have thought they would be fine, however you would need to check with the actual university.

Also think about space constraints, uni halls generally aren't that big and you may not have very much room if you put multiple cages in there.

I'm yet to see a university halls contract that allows pets.

Can't you just go into a shared house from first year?

I'm suprised, none of the private rentals for students I know of allow pets. And certainly halls wouldn't allow them. You might be able to hide one cage but you wouldn't have room for more than that.
