The State Opening of the Seventeenth Parliament

By the power invested in by Her Majesty the Queen I hereby declare the Seventeenth Parliamentary Term formally open! Finally!

I have received the following two coalition proposals:
    >Conservative, UKIP, Libertarian (20 seats)
    >Green, Socialist (13 seats)

As the largest of the two, in accordance with the Constitution and Guidance Document I have formally invited the TSR Conservative & Unionist Party, the TSR UK Independence Party and the TSR Libertarian Party to form Her Majesty's next Government. Similarly, as the second largest coalition not in HM Government, I have invited the TSR Green Party and TSR Socialist Party to form Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition.

The Rt. Hon. Rakas21 MP is now once again the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. And the Rt. Hon. Miser MP is now Leader of the Opposition. I trust the Government and their Opposition will unveil their cabinets soon.

    HM Government (20 seats)
TSR Conservative and Unionist Party (10 seats)
TSR UK Independence Party (6 seats)
    TSR Libertarian Party (4 seats)

HM Most Loyal Opposition (13 seats)
    TSR Green Party (7 seats)
    TSR Socialist Party (6 seats)

    Others (17 seats)
    TSR Labour Party (12 seats)
    TSR Liberal Party (5 seats)

I look forward to starting a new term with you all. My inbox is now open for submissions, it's finally time to resume business as normal. I would also like to request that party leaders send me their MP lists if they haven't done so already and get them to apply to the MP usergroup as soon as possible, thank you, and good luck to everybody.

Be a tough one given that the Liberals hold the balance of power.

    Can't blame them.

At least the Green-Liberal mix should make for interesting king makers on bills.

As CLS has noted, there seems to be a mistake in the part about the formation of the HM Opposition.

    Which was the first?
11th Parliament. In that Government I was the Minister for Work or something like that.
13th Parliament was the next time I was in Government when I was the Foreign Secretary.
15th Parliament was the third time when I was Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary and then a little while on Education Secretary.
17th Parliament is now my fourth time.

Interestingly the first time I was in Government resulted in me leaving UKIP briefly!

Me being an idiot just happened to misread the the procedures regarding Opposition formation. What a great start to a term

The Green Party and the Socialist Party have been invited to form HM Most Loyal Opposition, not Labour. I apologize profusely for the gaffe. What a great start to the term I've made...

Is that the first time that Labour's not been in Government or been the official Opposition?

    Why'd you leave?

Let's just say creative differences. It resulted in me being considered a closet Leftie by the Right for some time.

Congratulations to the Conservatives, UKIP and the Libertarians on their successful formation of Government. Best of luck for the coming term - I'm sure will be an interesting one.

Thanks to all the Greens and the Socialists who have put in so much of their time into the formation of a successful coalition between our two parties. I look forward to us working together for the betterment of the House.

And most importantly, a big thank you to Jarred for all his efforts over the last two weeks. I'm sure everyone joins me in sharing their appreciation for it.

    Parliament XVII here we go!
