So when I add NaOH(aq) to Fe2+, a green precipitate of Fe(OH)2 forms.
After 5 minutes, Fe2+ is oxidised by air to Fe3+.
A rusty brown (precipitate??) can be seen.
Do you call that a precipitate?
Is that called a precipitate Watch

Precipitation is the action or process of precipitating a substance from a solution. Since this has been done, the rusty brown solid formed is a precipitate.
