how do i go about doing the first one? i know how to convert an 8 bit binary to floating point decimal (via +- mantissa x 2^exponent) but trying to do the reverse is a bit confusing. i thought a floating point number was meant to have a decimal point? -4?

second question, just wanted some clarification as to whether i've done it right or not. i basically added the numbers in 2s complement, flipped the bits then -1

left my answers in the attachment. is this correct?

thanks in advance for any help
