    Hi there, I'm currently studying a foundation degree at my local college and will be going on to Sheffield Hallam next academic year to study a top-up course that will take me from a FDSC to an honors.

    I'm applying for student finance right now but I'm a little confused on what to do in the section regarding previous loans and studies. The two questions it asks are;

    Have you ever had any other loans from the Student Loans Company?

    Have you started an undergraduate or postgraduate course of Higher Education in any country since leaving school? Tick 'Yes' even if you did not complete the course.
    When I applied for student finance for the second year of my course, this section wasn't even present.

    It seems as though this section is aimed at prospective students who haven't been in education for a while. When I tick yes to either questions, the next section asks if I got a qualification out of my previous course. Obviously, I can;t really answer that considering I'm still on that course.

    So if anyone has any advice, that would be brilliant.

    You can only do the top-up course if you pass your foundation degree... therefore, you say that yes you did achieve a qualification.
