    Hello everyone!

I am new at this forum. I am from Spain and the reason I need your help is because I have received offers from Lancaster to course Accounting and Financial Management and International Business MSC's and also Management MSC at Bradford.

I would like to receive your opinion about which one has better reputation, better job opportunities, what do you think about this courses,...

I am very confused right now, because this is sort of new to me. I am expecting to take a loan from a Bank, because my family has not enough money to pay the expenses of the whole year. so this is the reason why I need your help and all this info.. I wouldn't like to waste almost 20K € in something that isn't worth...

Hope you understand me and could help me a little...

    Thank you very much.

    Best regards,
    Manu.

I understand your situation as so will I have to ask for a loan to go and study in the UK.

I believe the degrees are different. I mean, the one from Bradford is much more general than the other one. So, I guess the first question is: what do you want to study? You should take into account your background.

Regarding general reputation I think they both have a good reputation. You should see the financial times ranking to see statistics on the Bradford MSc http://rankings.ft.com/businessschoo...anagement-2012

Lancaster is regarded as the stronger business school, though Lancaster's real strength is in Operations Research. MSc Accounting and Financial Management is solid/ mid tier level among British unis. What is your academic background and do you have any practical exp?

In the UK, you may join a accounting firm or finance department and earn your professional accreditation in auditing (ACA) or management reporting (Cima). This would take 3 years.

    Hi, thank you for answering.

I have a bachelor of economics at Universidad de Salamanca, here in Spain. This bachelor is not very focused in managament but I have studied some basic concepts and so on.

The curious things is that i have asked to some Bradford alumni and there are multiple answers, ones says Bradford is excellent, others says that is not worth enough..

MSC management in Bradford is very well ranked too among the different msc...so this just make me more confused!

I have read about Lancaster that is a really good university, in some rankings is very well ranked..

could we say that both universities are quite similar in Business studies?
which one would give me better chances to get a good job?

    Thank you for helping me!

Disagree, both are not similar. Lancaster is more quant and has higher entry requirements for its undergrads. For MSc it has established true excellence in Operations Research and better industry contacts. Econ is a good foundation for finance. I would choose Lancaster.

Were these the only unis you applied to or have you applied to others?

Hi Tcannon, thank you for answering!

I have applied to Exeter, Lancaster and Bradford. I was thinking on applying to Leeds and Manchester too, maybe Nottingham...what do you think about it?

After reading many info on Internet, I have realized that maybe Lancaster is the better choice.. but that's just info on Internet... I would like to receive personal opinions..So thank you very much!

    Best regards my friends!

I don't know about your grades, but Nottingham, Leeds and Manchester are higher ranked than Lancaster & Bradford. Why didn't you apply there in the first round? Hence they receive more applications and have wider international students due to the name recognition abroad.

All three have strong business schools with specialised masters in finance. I would put Nottingham>Manchester>Leeds. Nott and Manchester have equivalent MSc Finance programmes, but Nott costs only £5000 and offers better value and has better econ courses for electives. It is regarded solid top10 in the UK outside the Big5 Oxbridge,London and Warwick.

I'm trying to be realistic, my grades are not the best I've seen...but I have some impressive grades at Statistics or Microeconomics...
I have checked and Nottinghams courses cost are quite similar... (9500 - 10000). And also I've seen that Nott is AAB and Lancaster is AAA. What do you think about that?
I'm applying to Nott too, in UManchester I have to pay a fee only to send the app form and ULeeds rejected a friend of mine with quite similar grades than me...
I chose Lanc and Bradford trying to achieve a tier 2 uni in order to improve my CV and get a nice job. Till the date with my Bachelor I got no job offers at all...
