    Just wondering....

I leave my laptop on 24 hours 7 days a week mostly....(without putting it into sleep)

I don't have any issue with heat and it is 2.5 years old.

I maybe shut it down every couple of weeks? I close the lid while I sleep most of the time just to shut the fan up.

    25hours :pierre:

no, ive set the power settings up for it to sleep after 5 minutes. so any time im not using it, it will turn off, including going out, bathroom, sleep etc (assuming i dont turn it off myself)....

why keep it on if youre not using it?

I would say at least 8 hours, I do have a bad habit of leaving it on.

It's on most of the day, but I always put it to sleep if I'm going away for more than 5 minutes or so, or hibernate if I'm leaving it for a couple of hours (including while I sleep). I only ever turn it off if I'm leaving it for more than a few days, when it needs to be restarted for updates, or if it freezes (which, sadly, happens more often than I'd like!). I probably ought to turn it off properly more often, but I always unplug it, so it isn't drawing any power.

I'm so used to everything in my life going wrong at the most inopportune moment I'm scared to switch mine off at all in case it doesn't come back on again ... particularly so at the moment as my dissertation deadline approaches
