I'm going to be doing a BEng in Mechanical Engineering with an included foundation year(that is if things don't go to plan on results day) so suppose for this sake i will do the above degree the total duration of this is 4 years, so to my understanding student finance allows one more year of further funding so I would be entitled for 5 years, which is okay because I want to do a MEng but suppose i did the BEng with f.y and wanted to do lets say an MSc, would I get funding for the MSc? Because i technically haven't used the extra year yet?

    Cheers

    Hi A10,

If you initially start the Msc as one long course with your undergrad integrated in this study you will be funded for the length of the course.

If you start the BSc (with or without a foundation year) you'll receive funding for the full length of the course but not an additional and separate Masters year.

    Hope this helps,

what if you move up from BEng to MEng but decided you wanted to stay at the same university but to study a postgraduate masters instead of the MEng would you get funding? Since its all the same long course

    Hi A,

No, you would only receive funding for the Masters year if it states on your first year application that you are studying the MEng.

    Thanks,
    Mark-Lee
