I applied for York's History/Economics (equal) course beginning 2013, and got an offer of AAA. But my first choice uni gave me an offer of AAB, although I was expecting higher. I still really want to put down York as my back up, but I'm not sure how slim the chances of getting in with ABB are.
I have a friend who got in with AAB for straight history, and so I asked at the visit day what the chances were of this happening were. The admissions lady said very small - this stuff only happened last year because of the introduction of the A* grade, which meant more people undershot their offers than usual. But then when I was talking to a current student later that day, he said his neighbour got in with BBB. So I have no idea who to believe, and the lack of formal stats means I'm basically relying on hearsay... Help!
