Hi, I am hoping for some advice

My son is due to finish his HND and will apply for the BSC top up for 2 years. So essentially he is not a student between June and end Sept.

Without going into too much detail, he will be going to live with his aunty for the holidays because we dont get along too well.

As a full time student myself he has always been allowed max grants loans etc based on my income but how will they calculate what he is entitled to if he doesn't live with me. If it means he will lose any financial support then he can live here and we will just have to stay out of each others way, go for counselling whatever - but in order to save our relationship its better for all concerned he stays with his aunt.

Can anyone advise on how situations like this work regarding finance please ? Many thanks

Unless he's either estranged, self supported for 3 years, (student finance doesn't count) is 25 or over or is married or has a child, it'll go on your income.

    Thank you for that.

My income even if he doesnt live here ? I dont know if we are considered estranged, just a temporary situation that requires time out, mother and son stuff. Under 25, unmarried, no kids. I prefer it to go on my income because his aunt is quite well off. Thanks for your time
