Hey guys, need a little assistance with this question if anyone can help. Not asking for the answer just a little guidance on what to do if I've gone wrong.

    i)
a = nitrile group, linear shape
b = alkene group, planar shape
c = aldehyde group, planar shape

    ii) Lithium aluminium hydride.

    iii) cis-trans isomer (stereoisomer)

Is the above correct? Any help appreciated, Im struggling with chemistry abit! Many thanks!

Part a) is a bit stupid. How can two atoms be any other than linear. I suspect that the letter 'a' is not placed very well and that they are referring to C-CN.

Part b) yes it's planar. Maybe worth mentioning the trans- geometry.

    Part c) trigonal planar

    (iii) geometric stereo-isomerism (trans)

The answer is just trans stereoisomer?
