Where to begin... well I asked my university to release me from an unconditional offer I had accepted as I want to apply through Clearing. The next morning I woke up to find an email from UCAS saying that my whole application had been withdrawn and I could not apply for 2013 entry. I panicked and rang UCAS and they told me to ring the University up and ask them to reinstate my application but that I no longer want to do the course. I then checked Track later on and it said that I still had firmed the offer with the university... so I rang UCAS and they told me to then ring the university again and to ask them to release me AGAIN. She told me she had done that and UCAS had confirmed it. I have today receieved an email from the university saying that UCAS have sent them an email saying this 'As the applicant has firmly accepted an unconditional offer with you, we are not able to release her at this stage. You will need to release her or contact us to do this when Clearing has begun.'

So does this mean I have to wait til mid-July to then go through the process of ringing the university up and asking them to release me etc? Or will I be put in Clearing automatically? Rather confused as you can see!

Any help would be appreciated or if anyone knows what I should be doing in the mean time like contacting other universities and asking if I could be considered for the course I'm wanting to do? Think I have myself in a bit of a mess

I think you will have to wait until clearing opens and then contact the university to release you? In the mean time email all the universities you're interested in and explain your situation and ask them if they would consider your application

    Thank you for your reply.
I've been so confused with all of this. For some reason I thought I would be released from the university and then I would be eligible for extra as I was holding no other offers but UCAS told me I can't because I still have the offer from the university! I emailed a few unis that I am interested in and they told me to apply through Extra. So annoying as I had to then explain that I'm not eligible for it

You can be eligible for Extra if you get it sorted now. Phone the uni again and explain what you would like them to do. It might help if you tell them that you want to be rejected, as released is terminology generally used a bit later.

Ahh so there is some hope? Thanks for your reply! I will give them a ring in the morning but instead of asking them to release me do I just tell them to reject me even though I've already accepted the unconditional offer? It won't withdraw my whole application will it... As you can tell I am absolutely clueless!
