I know, just asking a general question. I am on gap year and will be doing Computing in September. There are different areas in IT like Databases, programming, networks, project management and information security.

Just say if I wanted to specialises in one of these areas in IT, is postgraduate study worth it to get into an area. I might want to get into database preferably but my goals does change with the time and would like to know some opinions on this.

    Thanks in advance.

Your opinion might change with time, so you could always enrol on a BEng course, and upgrade to an MEng course around your second year.

Depends - not sure you would find a Masters in, say, database programming.

An alternative would be specialise as much as you can in your Bachelors degree and then do an MBA... over the 20 years after that, it would surely amortize.

It really doesn't matter, in IT jobs employers will train you in the specifics they need .. All you need to do is have the basicss - Masters is just there if you cant find a job to make you more employable

Ok, I checked a few jobs websites including reed and for one vacancy. There like 100 plus applications for it. I just wanted to know if its worth doing a masters to specialise in specific area like database or just try getting a job after graduation. I don't want to end up in dead end job after uni, so knowing my options does help. Thanks for the comment including everyone else. Keep them coming.
