# Maths GCSE UMS Scores (AQA) Watch

1. Hello there, am wondering if anyone can help with a query about the AQA maths UMS scores?

I am a mature student and recently sat Units 1 and 2 exams at foundation level. (I wanted to do higher but circumstances at work and home didn't allow at the time, and I had no time for the extra study)

I have had my results today, and scored a C in both exams, UMS scores are:

Unit 1 : 52 out of 55
Unit 2 : 69 out of 69

So a total of 121 points.

I have my 3rd exam in June, and wonder if I take the higher paper this time, would it be possible to get a B?

Or by doing 2 x foundation papers am I stuck with a C, even if I managed to get a good UMS score?

Thanks in advance for any help
Karen

You have 2 high Cs so it is perfectly possible to get a B overall if you take the higher Unit 3 and get a decent B in that. All that matters is the total score you get. So far you have got 121/180 (the max score of foundation Unit 1 was 55 but if you had taken the higher paper you could have scored 80, similarly for Unit 2 you could have scored 100 on higher). 126/180 would be a B, so if you can get 5 more than a bottom B on the final unit you will get a B overall.

Sort of kicking myself that I didn't attempt the higher papers now after all, but it's not all bad if I can still get a B.
