It does help because you can use the values you've obtained for mean and sigma to calculate the area in the middle (do you know what i mean) which should give you 0.5 and if it doesnt then you've gone wrong somewhere. I only used it to double check my answer.
noo i read it to 3sf .. would they take a mark for it?

I'm not sure, but for the past papers i've done, i've always had marks taken off for not giving the answer to the specified degree of accuracy, but our teacher was very strict so i dont know if they actually will in the real exam (although she was an examiner last year and the year before).

but if they do they'll probs take 1 mark off max. i reckon, so nothing to get worried about

OK... Now, I'm not stupid - I don't think... On the last question, the Venn Diagram, a LOT of people in my class got conflicting answers. I got the number of people outside ABC, equal to 41... and for
6a) 1/5
6b) 41/100
6c) 1/10

Anyone else got any ideas on how accurate this is?

on the normal distribution question I got mean = 1.700 (3dp) and sigma = 0.095 (3dp) and I used those to check the value of the middle bit (should be 0.5) and it worked. hope its right.

I thought that paper was one of the easiest s1 papers I've done
That 's what I got! And Im'm sure it ws to 3 dp, (I did the edexcel paper). I didn't even have time to do the last question, it was so confusing, so thats around 13 marks lost for not doing the last question

63 raw marks on edexcel and youve lost 12 marks so i dont think that could possibly be 100 ums. are you talkin about AQA?
