    PFA Player of the Year
    Bale
    Carrick
    Suarez
    Hazard
    Mata
    Van Persie.

    Young player:
    Hazard
    Bale
    Lukaku
    Welbeck
    Wilshere
    Benteke

I still think young player shouldnt include 23 year olds

    Carrick + Benteke for me.

Would say Michu/Baines have been better than Hazard over the season but it's not a major thing.

Carrick the only player on the list who has performed consistently throughout the season, with no dips, but i'd say he's still behind Bale/RVP/Suarez. RVP and Suarez incredible starts but now falling away, Bale kind of the other way around. I imagine Bale will win because his best is fresher in the mind.

Young player...Bale wins hands down. No questions asked. He'll probably win the main and (for some silly reason) be excluded from the young one though, so Benteke is a solid enough shout.

And i'll make the standard criticism that this is too early to be judging properly. If Bale/Wilshere inspire their team to CL places, or if Benteke scores the goals that keep Villa up, then their claims look a lot more convincing.

Speaking for all LFC fans, Suarez doesn't deserve the award. He has been awful in the past couple of months.

Benteke has been Aston Villa's saviour this season, but he has missed some sitters.

Does Bale still come under the young category?

Bale will win both. **** knows what Welbeck's doing there - DDG, Rafael and Nastasic deserve to be nominated more.

Also think Michu has had a better season than Hazard.

Welbeck and Wilshere shouldn't be on it and I think Michu should be on it as well. Oh well, the big teams always get the look in I suppose.

    Michu has dropped of.. massively.

No surprise the big teams get looked in more, they have the best players?

Shaw, Rafael, Nastacic all deserve to be on young player imo

Yeah, I agree. But, in terms of performances, I don't think Welbeck, Wilshere - who hasn't performed badly, but he's just not played regularly to warrant a place on there - Hazard (only on the Player of the Year category) should be on there. There are more deserving players who should be on the list.

Wilshere has only played about 10 games this season?

Benteke deserves the young player as he has been hot all season but as Bale is the best player surely in theory he should win both :holmes:

Nope. Fabregas was YPOTY in 2008 when both him and Ronaldo were nominated, and Ronaldo won POTY. Same with Bale/Wilshere 2011.

Christiano Ronaldo won both in 2007. The only other player to win both was Andy Gray in 1977 when he was with the Villa. So it can happen.

I am aware of the farce that has taken place previously tbf.

I was pointing out that if the winner of the young player beats the overall winner, then surely the young winner is the best :holmes:

Michu over Hazard and Rafael over Welbeck/Wilshere, personally.

Would love Carrick to pick up the main award, but I think Bale will swoop the lot.

Surely Mata in with a more than decent shout. I now Chelski have underperformed considering the fortune they spent last summer but he's literally been there leading guy. When he doesn't play or is under performing (which is pretty rare) I find them quite average. When he's playing well then Chelsea look a really dangerous team. Not only is a great player in his own right but he raises his entire team. He's a quality player (wish we had got him!) 15 odd goals and 17 assists too this season.

Hmmmm I'm a arsenal fan, and to be fair wilshere is a amazing player and a amazing talent(England's future?) but don't really think he deserves to be on the list. Only outstanding performance from him was Swansea in fa cup that I can really remember.
Really think Luke shaw should be in here. Can't wait for our annual Southampton raid when he replaces gibbs

I'd rather have Michu, Gerrard, Cazorla, Fellaini or Baines above Carrick in the main shortlist & I don't know how the likes of Wilshere & Welbeck get in the young player shortlist Anyway I think Bale should win both even though I don't really regard him as a "young" player anymore.

Nice to see a non-attacking player in the form of Carrick get a nomination. He has been excellent and consistent all season, even if not quite excellent enough to win it. I think it really ought to be between Mata and Bale for the main prize.

I feel a bit deflated when I look at the Young Player list for two reasons. Firstly, it seems inevitable really that Bale will win it, which feels like a bit of a shame because he has a chance to win the main award and if he wins the Young Player award too then players younger than him who have been really impressive this season will go without that level of recognition, such as Benteke and Lukaku.

Secondly, I have to agree with others that the likes of Wilshere and Welbeck shouldn't really be on that list. Wilshere, despite playing at least 45 minutes in about 20 games has only impressed me on a handful of occasions this season, and Welbeck has had some excellent games for us in other competitions but ultimately he has only played 45+ minutes in 13 league games this season, scoring 1 goal and getting 4 assists.

A better pick than Welbeck would be Rafael, who has come on leaps and bounds this season and has arguably become the 2nd best attacking right back in the league behind Kyle Walker. And I almost feel that David de Gea is more deserving of a cheeky nomination purely because of how everyone wrote him off after a couple of months and yet he has bounced back in style and has been really solid since about Christmas/January time.

And if he were a year younger, Walcott would be a much more convincing nominee than Wilshere for Arsenal.

Player of the Year: Juan Mata
Young Player of the Year: Gareth Bale.

It's probably a consistency thing. Certainly Michu and Fellaini had great starts to the season but Carrick has been solid throughout. I'm not saying it's necessarily right; I think there's an arguable case for all the players you mentioned except Baines (good but not quite good enough).
