Freshers' week at Imperial, comments plz!

Hi everyone, I'm planning to go to Imperial in October to study Biochemistry (Bsc). It would be really great if you could tell me about the atmosphere there, and any Imperial students how do you feel about the cost of living and the life there as a student generally... Plz be HONEST.

Also could you tell me something about Fresher's week, is it good and what sort of thing do students do?

Thanks a lot in advance

Fresher's Week- my boyfriend is doing Msci Biochem there and is in his first year, his Fresher's Week was 3/4 days long and consisted of bar crawls basically. I think the union is ok, but most of his friends go over to the LSE SU because it is way better, but there are a few things to do there. As far as I can gather, the best advice to you is join a sports team or an active society, because unless you make the effort to have a good time, it won't happen. Good luck xx

Thanks so much for your reply claire. i was wondering if you could perhaps give me the e-mail address of your bf, so that i could perhaps ask him a few questions regarding Imperial. he is studying the same course i want to pursue and being an international student it would be really helpful.

once again thank you very much.

He isn't avaliable to talk to but next time i'm up there staying with him, or next time he comes home (this weekend or defo next) i will get him to answer your questions and i'll PM them to you if you'd like? I may be able to answer questions, i'm up there enough, but i don't know much about his course except you have to get a B average to stay on the MSci, otherwise they just stick you in the BSc- he is finding the work hard but he is doing well enough to stay on his course, and as long as you work hard i'm sure you'll be fine :-). PM me any questions you have and i'll bug him for the answers! Where are you from?
Last year ULU had fresher's events at the Ministry of Sound. Not bad by any means.

I know the answer to the last question, Beit hall is the nicest but both very expensive and very hard to get into. I'll ask him all the other questions when I speak to him next, i'll PM the answers to you, is that ok?

LOL, so how on earth can anyone say that social life and night life at Imperial is bad when it's in the centre of London?!

LOL, you'd think it's the best place to be! (If you're the type who likes that sort of stuff)

well even if the imperial freshers isnt as good as everyone wants it to be, the fact remains that most of the other colleges in london start a week early, so go to all their freshers weeks, have a great time and then try and continue it through imperial's freshers fortnight.

this only helps tho if you actually live in or around london, as imperials halls probably dont open till a week later than the other colleges. hope to meet you all there (pending hopefully alright A2 results)..lol
