If you are just doing core science, then the three topics form the one science GCSE. If you are doing additional, then you gain a science GCSE and an additional science GCSE. However, if you do a triple science award, then you gain a GCSE in chemistry, a GCSE in biology and a GCSE in physics.

At least, I think that is how it works (with my exam board OCR). This is what I was told by my science teacher. Hope it helps!

    BTEC science= certificate
    additional/applied science= 2 GCSEs
Triple science ( i.e. biology, chemistry, physics)= 3 separate GCSEs
