basically, i dont understand how to simplify a boolean algebra and it make no sense to me. for example...

P V (¬ P ^ Q)

and the answer is: P V Q

and it uses steps like "V dis", "bracket" etc...

ps: the ^ is suppose to be an upside down V. (or and)

that makes sense. it is supposed to link to basic algebra, but being boolean algebra, there are some slight alterations. in your example:

P V (-P ^ Q) = (P V -P) ^ (P V Q) = P V Q (since (-P V P)=0)

unfortunately there is no easy of doing this; it is simply a matter of learing the various rules : distributive, associative, de morgan's, complement etc.

The exam board matters as the importance linked to 'Logic' varies with each one. I am with OCR (MEI) so there is quite strong emphasis on Logic.

hello i need some help with the demorgans laws.
We have the rule, (A + -AB) = A + B
Well if we have (-A + AB) Do we get -A + B ?

im trying to prove that ABC + -A-B-C + A-BC + -AB-C + -A-BC + AB-C
that is equal to -A-B + AC + B-C

( - refers to not.)

I have been working on it for days and I cant end to the answer. Either im missing a not or i have more than needed. Whats going wrong?

If you could help I would be glad
