Working while at theatre school

Hi,

I'll be starting East 15 on the BA World Performance course this year and as is common among students, I am going to be poor. I was looking for advice on working whilst on a performance course? I've heard very mixed reviews on the subject, mainly because of the long contact hours and flexibility needed, so was looking for a bit of advice or personal experience.

A common and a great thing to do while doing a performing arts course is to serve as front of house staff in a theatre. If you end up somewhere decent on the Strand, you get to see the shows, meet the actors, get to go to the parties and drink copious amounts of decent alcohol.

The evening working hours on most days, apart from a couple of matinees means that you get to go to all your classes during the day.

Nightlife with your mates outside the theatre could become endangered though.
