Anyone here study English at Manchester or York?
I just wanted to get some insight into both universities - I'm deciding between the two, and wanted to get someone else's perspective on the courses.
I've applied for Literature at York, and Literature & Linguistics at Manchester - any advice/insight would be really helpful.

I only do Lit at Manchester, but I really love it! The reading list can be a bit heavy sometimes, but it's usually on something interesting. First years have to tackle the dreaded Beowulf and a theory module though and that can seem a bit daunting, but if you ever need any support there are several people you can contact.
I actually nearly picked York because of its compulsory foreign language-type module, but that put some of my friends off it completely, so it just depends what you're looking for really.
