In my experience, guys have not "expected women to be shaved down below". Women have taken that chore upon themselves, just as they regard other body hair to be 'abnormal'. Any girl I have been with has said they would never let me see them down below without it having been shaved; I never requested that they do it, though. I think it's more often than not similar to the make-up situation - guys don't expect girls to wear it, nor do they care. It's girls who think they need to.

A lot of it is down to the media rather than individual men, but most of the men interviewed in 'How to get a life' were strongly anti-pubic hair and, although this poll is more about preference than expectation per se, it's obvious that the majority of men prefer shaved women. http://wtfarementhinking.com/women-pubic-hair-shaving-preference

If that is true of men, I think it could also be said that women prefer being shaved anyway and do it of their own accord, rather than just because most men prefer it.

This is just anecdotal but I realised that the main reason why I shaved at all was because I'd been told it was gross not to shave by friends and family. Also this isn't related to pubic hair as much but there are articles like this http://www.thehothits.com/news/15450/the-top-8-celebrity-hairy-armpit-shots-of-all-time everywhere which say things like: “there’s nothing more embarrassing for a woman than to get busted with hairy armpits, and when celebs are getting snapped 24 hours a day, there is no excuse for them to forget to shave”...That's not to say that many women don't prefer to shave of their own accord though.

I don't. To the extent that I feel entitled to an opinion on how someone manages her own vagina, I actually find the completely shaved look somewhat less attractive than the alternatives. My vague preference would be for trimming.

Still, I'm these days only overwhelmed with gratitude at getting the opportunity to pass (private) judgement

The pre-pubescent argument is ridiculous. If hair down there is the only thing that stops you looking like a kid, you've got bigger problems.
While I also think the pre-pubescent argument is silly, there is something to be said for pubic hair as simply a mark of puberty and therefore not something which should be considered disgusting or unnatural for a woman to have. Personal choice I guess.
You'd be surprised how many men prefer women to have a little bit of hair down there to completely shaven.
It's more a courteousy thing. If a girl expects me to go down on her I expect to be able to do so without getting a mouthful of pubic hair. Likewise I'll do a little manscaping around my Johnson.

Its a common misconception that pubic hair prevents infection, the acidic environment of the vagina is the principal defence mechanism for this purpose. Further, pubic hair is an ideal anchorage point for a number of parasites and is an ideal environment for faecal bacterial colonisation.

A "misconception" that is prevalent on medical websites. The acidic environment of the vagina may be a defense mechanism but it is not the only mechanism.

Anyone with faecal bacterial colonisation has got greater problems than pubic hair. However anyone wishing to use this argument should present fully shaved themselves.

Shaved is for porn addicts and paedophiles, waxed for those with high pain thresholds but I agree with meeting your man half-way - so if he wants shaved insist he has the back, sac and crack.

i really expect from a girl to do that

The argument for pubic hair keeping the individual clean is very outdated; if this were the case then female children would all be dirty, and women naturally lose hair down there as they grow older too and would therefore also be dirty.

These days I stay completely hair free and I find a shower and wearing clothes daily is enough to protect me from dirt....

I'm sorry, but what? Are you seriously suggesting that if I like someone to be shaved I belong in the same category as Jimmy Saville? What the hell have you had for breakfast, turnip juice? If someone doesn't share your opinion then its not a basis to accuse them of something. Incidentally, I said the vagina was the principal defence mechanism not the only one. Oh and for the sake of argument, we clearly have very different notions of what constitutes a medical website
I cant stand long hair down there but at the same time I dont like it completely shaven. I trim it so the hairs are really short. I might as well have it how i want theres only ever been me thats seen it lol.
Yeah I guess most do.
My boyfriend always expects it to be waxed down there.
I'm not really too keen on stand hair down there either.

Also ... pubic hair has a purpose ... mainly keeping your bits clean so shaving is not a great idea

How does that work? Maybe at some point in our evolution pubic hair was enough/desired to keep stuff from coming into contact with our pubes but nowadays the only purpose of pubes are to smell bad and come in the way.

Why? I shave my legs and underarms, make sure I have no facial hair, but I do not shave down below! .... But it seems like 95% of TSR boys expect the girl to be completely shaven...

I'm not going to shave down there anyway,

But why, boys? Why is this expected of women? :s-smilie:

exactly..

and then boys complain they have it hard..

I'm sorry girls have it much harder. Please think about how much time and effort we have to put in to our lives when shaving just because we want boys to at least be interested in us... we have to shave our legs, arms, vag, armpits, face... yet seriously guys can go without a shave for years.. and girls can't complain if a guy has hair.. even if it does not look attractive. :/ (imo) as hair on men is supposed to be 'manly'.

And you do realize that once we shave.. it can grow back quickly.. so we have to do it multiple times. Honestly guys should not be complaining that they have it hard.

You really don't.

Yes, 100%, apologies -_____-
No, I don't expect it. It's up to the girl what her body looks like. I don't really like the look of a completely shaved pubic area, to be honest, so I'd prefer there to be something down there.
