The Student Room Group

are carbonyl groups present in carboxylic acids too

Is the C=O bond in carboxylic acids referred to a carbonyl group? My book only mentions aldehydes and ketones when talking about this bond.

You'll also come across loads more groups where carbonyl groups are present, e.g. amides, esters etc.
