My interview is on the 17th. The only other sixth form I am applying to is within the current school I already attend in Finchley, as many of the existing teachers are already aware of my abilities and what I am able to achieve, so I feel that staying would be beneficial to a certain degree. KCL appealed to me as the subjects they specialise in more or less revolved around my choices for A level, and the link with KCL university is interesting. Am I right in assuming that the concept they will teach us in the 'maths interview' will most likely be something from the lower end of the AS curriculum?

Good luck in your entrance exam by the way!

I made a page for KCL:

Greetings

Happy new year to all students .So have you had any results from your applications yet? We have not although entrance exams have been sat. LAE forms did not go through on line a Glitch they said.Mmmmmmm. Having stated that, the select state schools did not do as well as exspected. So ..whats the news?
Hey, I live in the West Midlands and I'm considering moving to London for September to hopefully attend a college or sixth form college that has a broad art/fashion department as I am aiming to study fashion at Central St Martins or other fashion based universities in the UK in a few years. Does anyone know which colleges supply the most support and best materials from a fashion/art perspecive so I will be able to create an impressive fashion portfolio? Thanks
St marylebone should be in the top 15

hello pplz! it looks like there are no proper league tables for sixth form schools & colleges in london.
so i thought i should post this thread to find the top 15 and worst 15.

i live in the far north of the city, so im not sure about the sixth form schools and colleges towards the south of the city. this is what i think about the sixth form schools and colleges i currently know.

the top 15 should obviously have
-the highest percentages of AS & A2 students achieving grades A*-B
-rated outstanding by ofsted
-an awesome reputation

top 15 (please feel free to add more if you know)
-city and islington college (the one and only!)
-woodhouse college (also the one and only!)
-fortismere school sixth form
-st charles catholic college
-leyton college
-latymer school sixth form
-christ college finchley

worst 15 (please feel free to add more if you know)
-aylward academy sixth form
-sir george monoux college
-stoke newington school sixth form
-southgate college
-brooke house college (also known as bsix)
-haringey sixth form centre
-la swap sixth form
-clive bourne sixth form centre

are there any colleges with good a-levels that accept student with c grades from gcse e.g i want to do biology a-level but i got c for gcse biology- any colleges that accept students with c for gcse?
ST Charles Catholic school??? That's the WORST one by far! they except people with criminal records! I know someone who goes there who told me that they sit next to a gang member
my school should definitely be up there, bottom 5. we were missing a physics teacher for half of the year
bruh st olaves is the 4th best school in england went to see it the other night for sixth form .... its too good and the requirements are like 8a* to b but they take people with like 12A* and 10A* meaning that they take the people with the highest amount of A*
I just recently joined Fortismere for sixth form and its great especially the teaching. Everyone in this school is so smart the all got like As and A*S on their GCSE. The school is a bit weird because they dont have a uniform for year 7-11s. But its really good in general. I applied to woodhouse college but I dont think that its as good as everyone says because I have friends that went there and failed so it depends on the person.
Has anyone applied to Tunbridge grammar ?
when you are 15/16 looking for the best college/sixth form it matters
good universities will not take you if you haven't got good grades but also even better if you went to a good college!
yes it's personal effort but if you have the choice to go to latymer or george monoux you want to know which is better...duh.they aren't denouncing a college as such, just showing their opinion on college that could help someone determine which college they will go to? If you have an issue with college comparison and judgement then don't look on the part of the website specified for that? Look for the unis simple, let people get on with what they're doing
Lolllllll Christ college is the worst, so is Leyton . City and Islington has terrible people.
I go to laswap and I'm based at the second largest catholic school in England and it's one of the top colleges. Specifically at la saints union one of the 6th forms part of laswap , it's amazing . Amazing opportunities , amazing teachers etc and our alumni is unrivalled.
woodhouse or camden school for girls is arguably the best in london ngl

BUT

la swap is amonst the worst in terms of overall grades

Unis normally won't really care which college you went to. It would actually be seen as a good thing if you you got good grade (but you go to a rubbish six form) since it shows that you are a very capable student.

Hey guys, my personal opinion of the list of top 15 is that i disagree with it, because most of them are large colleges or schools that only care about their grades and not the students and their career paths aswell. I started my As's at st Albans school and recieved BDDE in Bio, Chem, Physics and Drama. I then realised that if i wanted to go to a good university that without retaking would be impossible. So i left St Albans school. I found out about Brampton College (a college in Hendon) by surfing the internet. It seemed rather interesting so i booked an appointment to look round. I loved the feel of the college and how friendly all the members of staff were. I enrolled that day to retake my AS levels. I changed my subjects to Physics, Chemistry, Maths and Psychology. In my AS levels i acheived ABBB respectively. I then dropped Psychology and continued with the others. I applied to universities such as Nottingham, Birmingham, Manchester etc, and recieved all my offers. I then went on to get AAB (A in Chemistry 3 ums off A*) (A in Maths 539/600) (B in Physics 2 marks off an A) . I have accepted a place to study Industrial Economics at the University of Nottingham.
At Brampton College the level of teaching is so high that you're not just taught to cram for exams, the teachers teach you in such a way that you understand the subject in such depth that you can tackle practically any question thrown at you. Brampton gives students constant exam practice so that they are prepared for exams. They also offer tutorials for pupils, therefore if they were to ever have trouble with a specific topic tutorials are there for help. Brampton allows student to fulfil their acedemic potential to the full.
I believe Brampton College would definatly be worthy of a place on the top 15 colleges, they get great results every year. ]
Have a visit of the website if you would like, www.bramptoncollege.com
if anyone asks who recommended you just mention my name thanks

Erm. I don't think so. Brampton tends to cram ALOT. Especially for maths and further maths. They finish a chapter for further maths in a day a two. I call that cramming.
never ever go to harris girls academy bromley its rubbish
Your rude, unhelpful no need for your negative comments. I'm looking for a good sixth form for my daughter and this thread is very helpful. So maybe if you don't like it just don't read it.

CVMS ALL THE WAY.
Got voted top comprehensive skl in Sunday Times
Sixth form is banging
Ian Brooke’s house college the same as London Brooke college?
firstly, your last sentence didn't even make any sense.secondly, your point is completely incorrect and stupid. The top sixth forms are the top for a reason and you see that they all have very high success rates. There is not one state sixth form in London that is higher than a top grammar/independent sixth form.
