Though I admit the fact that university rankings are not the real reason you should apply to a university(unless you've got the choice between Luton and Oxford!!!)I just can't understand how there are significant differencs between the Times and the Guardian rankings. Bath is 5th in the Times and 24th inthe Guardian, Durham passes from 10th to 28th... Rankings for individual subjects is even worse and that goes to show tha everyone has adifferent opinion so just trust yourself!

There is little point in looking at league tables individually as they all have different criteria, which make results extremely variable. It is much more helpful to find the average position of instutions across a range of rankings. I'd recommend the Telegraph Table, which combines league positions from the Daily Telegraph, Financial Times, Guardian, Times, Sunday Times and Employers Survey to give an overall impression. Sure there was a link posted a while ago!
