Undergraduate Fieldwork

Looking to develop a new fieldwork opportunity, and want to know what current geography/archaeology fieldwork students do at a variety of universities?

Oxford first years do a 4000 word fieldwork report, which comprises a 2000 word physical geography investigation and 2000 word human geography investigation. The physical one this year was looking at relationships between tree height, diameter, growth, canopy size etc in Wytham Woods, the local research forest. The human one was a study into an aspect of the human geography of flooding in the town of Oxford, e.g. variations in the perception of flood risk across the town.

In the second year there's another 4000 word fieldwork report which involves overseas travel. This time its on either physical or human geography depending on your module choices. Last year they went to Tenerife or Copenhagen.
