Badly broken online forms - when will they be fixed?

Hi.

As several others have noted on your Facebook page and here in the forums I think, there are various problems with your web form system, and what makes it worse is that when you ring up (because you won't allow anyone to ask a question by email or web form), you get different answers depending on who you talk to: "Well, please try using Internet Explorer to complete the form, as it may not work properly in other browsers"; "Don't press the browser back button while using the form, otherwise it will break" (Sorry?! you can't create a web form that copes with people actually using the built in browser controls??!); "The student must submit their application, as if complete, even though it isn't, so that the linked parent can then submit their details...although we know that this doesn't seem to work for some people"; "There is a problem, which is being worked on."; "We suggest you send in a paper application".

My questions? Why on earth have you allowed a broken form to be released for use on what you know is going to be an overwhelmingly busy web site?! And when will everything be fixed so as to actually work as intended? Bearing in mind that the deadline for submission is only just over 3 weeks away, this does't bode well. Can you give an assurance that this won't all end in tears for a very large number of students, who will no doubt already be stressed about starting uni??
Hi Adrian,

Regarding the points you've raised above:

Yes there may be an issue caused when the back button of the browser is used instead of the internal navigation of the site. This is why we have a clear message at the beginning of the application instructing applicants not to use the back button.

You've also mentioned that parents can't support applications until the student has submitted. Students, as I'm sure you're aware are given two options as to how a parent or partner will provide supporting information.

If the student chooses 'same session' then the supporter can provide their details there and then before the application is submitted. If they choose 'separate session' then the application does in fact need to be submitted in order for the supporter to be able to link to it as no application exists until it has been submitted.

Please also bear in mind that paper applications are available to download at any time.

If you wish wish to make a complaint you can find details on doing this here: http://bit.ly/12PidBchttp://bit.ly/12PidBc

Thanks,
Mark-Lee
