Music REALLY affects how I feel, help

Whenever I hear the song "Fix You" by Coldplay, I burst into tears. I feel all hot and shaky at first, and it makes me feel incredibly sad. The same applies to other songs like "A Woman's Work" by Kate Bush. I know it's normal to get emotional at songs like these but I don't just get emotional - they actually destroy my mood for the rest of the day. I can't listen to them for more than a few seconds without crying. When they come on in a shop or at a friend's house or something, it's so embarrassing when I start crying. How can I stop doing it?

I cry when I listen to Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus especially if it's being sung by Andrea Bocelli. You're not mad.

well maybe we need to know a little bit more about you... are you depressed, are you having problems ?
I know how you feel...
With, me it's usually songs from the past. They tend to take you right back to a time and a place and make you feel the way you did then. If that was a bad time or there are bad memories linked with that time then it's no surprise you feel automatically emotional.

Anyone know the music from 'Somewhere in Time'? That always gets me teary.
Duhbrains! Pick music that gets you invigorated, not adverts (yes, they are meant to be emotive) for albums.
I cry everytime I hear the Cheeky Girls. Their existence is also a contributing factor to my atheism.

Cheer up...Just pick different music to listen to and then you'll feel better. I'll give all these songs a listen to see if it affects me. :-)

well music obviously affects peoples mood and stuff. i love listening to quite mellow stuff like micheal buble when i am revising etc or listen to a bit of magic fm. then other days i listen to loud raving music which makes my mama shout! music affects everyone i think it is due to the fact you probably upset/ depressed about something! exams stress? leaving 6th form? or jus life in general? well all i can say is just hang in there, dont worry about being upset over music because your not the only one!

Peace

Take care!

If you blub at Mozart then try (or don't!):
Mahler Symphony No.5
Shostakovich Symphony No.5
Tchaikovsky Symphony No.6
Dvorak Cello Concerto
Vaughan Williams London Symphony
Rachmaninov Paganini Variations (no. XVIII)
Puccini La Boheme or Madame Butterfly

Better have plenty of Kleenex ready...

the song "Fix You" by Coldplay

You could at least have picked some decent music to get all emotional too. Coldplay leave me cold, they're so derivative and dull. Actually, if anything, they make me angry because they're so famous and so high-profile, but so very, very deeply ****.
