A = 2^4 x x 7
B = x 3^4 x 5

find the LCM

Obviously the LCM is the first common number in both their times tables but whats the method used to work it out when the numbers have been written as products of primes? :tsr2:

A : B
=> 2^4 x x 7 : x 3^4 x 5
=> (2^4 x x 7)/(2³ x 3^4 x 5) : 1
=> (2 x x 7)/(3^4 x 5) : 1
=> 14/45 : 1
=> 14 : 45

so A x 45 = B x 14 = x 3^4 x 5 x 14 = 45360

Take the product of primes with the biggest exponent.
You'll see LCM = 2^4 x 3^4 x 7 x 5
(e.g for A = 2^3 x..., and B = 2^4 x ... then take 2^4 ...)
