omg hahaha cannot believe on question 6 I wrote 'By 1950, Britain was no longer reliant on the Dawes Plan' instead of Marshall Aid!

I feel like I've messed up this exam majorly, I did questions 2 and 3 because I didn't have enough points
to write about for 1. I ran out of time on number 2's 24 marker and couldn't write a conclusion,
but this is basically what I wrote:

2a. Wall Street Crash- led to decline in staple industries and high unemployment (around 2.6 mill in 1931), Labour split due to amount of cuts that should be made (May Committees report rejected by TUC) and Run on the banks, then I linked it to the National government and how it lead to them falling as a party in 1931.

2b. I wrote about Attlee replacing Macdonald and linked that to leadership, then I mentioned how the National Government couldn't deal with unemployment (mentioned Jarrow Crusade- 70% male unemployment), Their victory in by elections etc. but didn't have time to write a conclusion, so I think I screwed that one up majorly.

3a. I wrote factors weakening the Conservatives like memories of 1930s, and them not supporting the Beveridge report in 1942 and how Labour were supportive of it, Labour's election campaign and the weakness of the Conservative campaign (only relied on Churchill), and then about socialism +changing attitudes and how Attlee and other Labour leaders were involved in the front line, which gave them a good reputation.

3b. I said about Nationalisation and the negative and positive impact of it, new industries, commitments overseas, the dollar crisis and converatbility and Marshall aid, in the conclusion I wrote how they weren't very successful as they were in an economic crisis etc.

Do you think I've messed it up completely? , I don't think my evidence was strong enough, but oh well :frown:

Seems to me like you know your stuff - I wouldn't worry about not writing a conclusion, they're not really that important, probably only get 1 mark of that for a conclusion.

You haven't messed up at all, you'll have done great

thanks, I really hope so! , I was a bit shook by all the questions tbh as they seemed pretty difficult compared to January's and last year, but hopefully everyone gets the grades they deserve
How necessary was it to mention Historians opinions? :frown: I hardly got any in!

I didn't use any either as I didn't think any of them really applied to the questions I answered, but I'm probably wrong.

Not at all necessary, sure it looks great if you do, but my teachers never suggested I should, and they consistently get good results.

I didn't answer this as I preferred the others, but - they inherited power going into an economic crisis with the Wall St. Crash and the Great Depression on entailing from October 1929.
Unemployment which was already at 500000 (due to declining industry) rose to 2.5m because of fall in demand for goods by 1931 which caused anger and unrest - hit 2.7m in July.
May report came out and predicted £120m deficit which split the party on how to deal with it with some saying cut and some being typically Labour and saying no.
MacDonald was increasingly unpopular within and out of the party - he allied with Tories etc. He ignored Mosleys ideas (who went on to form the BUF)
Whereas the Nat. Gov. were seen as a bright alternative to the dark times which people blamed on Labour.

Should be enough I guess

This is exactly what I wrote! Perfect thanks!

Someone wrote it a few pages back..
Something along the lines of - Explain why Labour lost the 1931 election

I think it was "Explain why the Labour Government collapsed in 1931"

What happens if I get a B in this, then a high A in my other module on Wednesday, what will my average grade be and how do they work out? Is there a set UMS score for both papers together that you have to get?

for question 1b I talked about how successful social reforms were and the actual question was how successful were the liberals at passing social reforms. How many marks can I expect to loose?
