Does my boss fancy me?? :S

I'm not very good at reading signals etc and haven't had much experience with guys so I was wondering what people here thought about this situation. I recently started a job and I'm wondering whether the manager fancies me.

It all started when I walked in to ask how to apply for the job, he made a joke about it and was quite friendly. I took my CV in the next day and he was friendly again. He called me that night to interview me the following day.

I went to the interview. During the interview a lot of eye contact was made and at one point he said "We only employ good looking people here *grin*...So I don’t know why they employed me!" Then afterwards he was very complimentary e.g. commented that I was a good looking girl (which I can't agree with myself), very impressive interview, had prepared well etc. (Would an employer normally comment on appearance? I mean I guess presentation matters, but not sure)

On my first day he was friendly again and showed me what to do etc. When he showed me the staff room he said it was relaxed, the room was for us (the staff), we could do whatever we wanted..."you can even bring your boyfriend here if you want...” I smiled but didn't comment. Was he probing to see if I had a bf or was he being simply friendly and relaxed about use of the staff room?

He also asked whether I'd been to X club and Y club in town etc. Again, was this just general chatting or trying to find out more in "that" way? He goes to concerts with colleagues apparently but has mentioned no gf so far.

Perhaps I'm being over sensitive or just imagining things, I’m not sure.

Sounds a bit sleazy. Only you can tell if it's just "the way he is" or if he's being innapropriate though.

He's at least five years older than me. I do have a bf, but he doesn't know. I don't think he's sleazy, he seems really nice.

Mention your boyfriend (subtly) next time you talk to him.

To be honest I think that is the most sleazy thing I have ever read. He is obviously trying to get in your pants. I actually feel it is so blatently obvious that the post was painful to read.

At least if things go pearshaped with your boyfriend you have a backup plan though

So how do I act friendly and POLITE (he is my boss) but NOT flirty?
Work relationships could get quite messy, right?

Sometimes...i would bring your bf one day in the staffroom. That may shut him up lol

It reminds me of the office for some reason

I agree with Jaded Hippy. It doesn't have to be a problem though, don't change the way you act when you're around him, just make sure you don't give him any encouragement and brush off his come-ons. He may just be flirty by nature- I am perceived that way. But it's not appropriate to act like that when you're the boss. That happened to me in a restaurant I was working in, the boss was in his mid thirties and he didn't really keep it professional. One time it was just me and him there, after shift to clean up. He needed to get past me so he told me to move "my cute little ass" out of the way, and gave it a slap. Seeing as I was only just 18 then it made me feel quite uncomfortable, despite him being a really nice bloke. It just felt weird.

Well if your not comfortable then don't do anything with your boss, to many bosses try and worm their way into a girl's bed, the chances are if he is probing you about a b/f then he may want to try and worm his way into your underwear.

He seems ok to me.

I've got a problem:

I've recently hired an extremely attractive new employee. We've engaged in some minor flirtation, but how do I let her know that I like her?
I have made some subtle hints, but haven't got very far yet.

What do I do?

It does sound a tad.. friendly, but then again that could be his way. Some people are just naturally quite confident amongst people they don't know so well, and it can be quite intimidating.

I'm in a similar situation; my friends and the rest of my class are convinced that our teacher likes me. I find the idea entirely absurd, for one thing I'm only 15 (wow- I can say that today ) and he is 35/40 odd. Plus he's married with kids, whom I've met. Crazy idea.

But anyway, he is naturally very friendly with people and it could be misinterpreted. Maybe ask around in a casual way, saying something along the lines of: "Oh, ________ is very nice/friendly isn't he?", leaving it open for them to say: "Yeah, he's always like that", or "I'd be careful of him".

Good luck!
